The Symptoms of Anxiety Aren’t “All in Your Head”

When to Seek Professional Help
A few of these symptoms now and then are normal, but the greater the number and frequency of symptoms, the more likely you are suffering from debilitating anxiety.

Common physical symptoms of persistent anxiety include:

  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Headaches
  • Shakiness
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Chest pain
  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Stomach upset or pain

Common emotional symptoms of persistent anxiety include:

  • Irritability
  • Depressive symptoms like feeling sad or “down”
  • Tension
  • Excessive worrying
  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty concentrating
